Avrielle and I have done some more planning and thinking about our plot to finalize the plot of our opening and get an idea of how the film would continue after those two minutes.
Opening two minutes:
The camera slowly enters with a J-cut that has the piano playing before the audience knows who is playing it. It is then revealed that the person playing is our main character, whom we call Clair. The camera goes in circles around the piano showing Clair playing the piece, Clair de Lune. However, during this performance, there are cuts to flashback scenes of Clair playing the same piece, only in a home, and obviously more distressed. These scenes feature an alarm clock that shows the time getting later and later as Clair falls obsessively into practice. At the end of the song, performance Clair stands up and takes a bow. The camera pans to the audience, and it is then revealed as an initial shock and somewhat plot twist, that nobody is in the audience.
The rest of the film:
After these two minutes, the film will follow Clair and explain how she fell into her obsession with piano, perhaps even starting from her childhood. The film will grow aggressive as Clair gets angry and obsessive and develops bad habits surrounding the piano. She grows delusional, thinking she is preparing for a prestigious performance, only for her to ruin her chances and have no performance at all. The film will also feature her interactions and relationships with those around her and in her life and how her obsession with piano destroys these relationships.
