For Clair/my costume, we decided we wanted to use color symbolism. We wanted to use black for how it symbolizes sophistication, elegance, and mystery, and is worn at prestigious events. These traits are what Clair wishes to be perceived as.
However, what Clair wishes to be perceived as is not what she is. During the flashbacks that play throughout the performance, it becomes obvious that Clair falls into a harmful obsession. To show how disheveled she becomes, the colors will be more chaotic and obsessive such as purple and orange.
Clair will also where a pearl necklace and earrings to give the performance a more realistic look and build believability before revealing there was never any audience present.
