My partner and close friend, Avrielle Sanchez, and I have begun thinking about our ideas for our film opening. Right off the bat, we knew we wanted to do something that would fall under the drama genre. We both play the piano and love it. This inspired us to want to compose a piece for our film opening to play in the background. After realizing this, I immediately thought of The Black Swan. So, Avrielle and I re-watched the
Black Swan film opening where the main character performs a dramatic ballet dance. I also realized some similarities that The Black Swan had with another movie I love, Whiplash. After re-watching the Whiplash opening, we realized that the obsessive artist trope would be perfect for our film. So, we decided that we'd do a film on an obsessive pianist, and the opening would feature a song Avrielle and I composed in the background. We were also deeply inspired by the openings of the two films and plan to incorporate their camera techniques, and the dark lightning that they both utilize.
